Overall Treatment Approach:
In the beginning, I try to facilitate repetitive practice in treatment focusing on a core vocabulary with specific syllable sequences and motor movement patterns. I use visual, verbal, and tactile prompts to assist in the accuracy of these sequences. I try to use activities/games that are naturally repetitive. As things progress, I begin to try to generalize those same syllable sequences using distributed practice to see if they can still maintain the pattern when used randomly.

Percent of CAS cases: 25

Parent Involvement:
I expect parents to be very involved in the therapy process. They are typically given a specific homework assignment based on the level of their child. I try to make the homework functional in their everyday life, even if this involves repetitive practice. In early intervention, the parents are typically working alongside me and modeling for their child. One example might be having the parents do repetitive practice of the functional VC combination "up" with their child every time they walk up each stair in their house. I teach them how to provide visual, verbal, and tactile prompts during the activity.
