Parent Involvement:
Parents join all therapy sessions. I typically will try a treatment strategy with a child and then have the parent attempt it to make sure they are comfortable with carrying the strategy to home. I provide therapy materials/ideas at every sessions and follow up at next session to see what successes/challenges the family experienced and give suggestions to modify as needed. I do a lot of coaching throughout the treatment to educate parents on CAS including appropriate sound substitutions to model and encourage, how to break words down and what factors increase motor planning difficulties.

Community Involvement:
My "Apraxia community" would be the skilled therapists that I have had the opportunity to work alongside and collaborate with. I read as much updated information on CAS that I come across and reference ASHA's best practice and Apraxia Kids for information when I have a treatment question. I refer parents to access Apraxia Kids website as well.
