Overall Treatment Approach:
I use the PROMPT conceptual framework of re-balancing the 3 domains (social-emotional, physical-sensory, cognitive-linguistic). There is variability depending on the child of course. I tailor treatment to what is going to work best for the child and family. From my assessment, I have 3 main priorities for treatment. I then plan various play activities that are going to embed the target words in natural, play based activities. I then use PROMPT techniques (at varying levels) to support children to produce the target words correctly.

Percent of CAS cases: 40%

Parent Involvement:
Parents are always present when I'm working with kids. I encourage parents to participate in games or play activities. I teach parents Parameter PROMPTS. I then share the lexicon and target words with the parents and encourage them to complete homework of practicing the target words. We will sometimes brainstorm activities where we can fit in target word practice in natural activities.

Community Involvement:
I work with a variety of kids with Apraxia. I am a member of various Facebook groups related to Apraxia to keep current on what is happening in the community. I keep current on new research related to CAS.
