Overall Treatment Approach:
My treatment approach is very individualized according to each child’s strengths, needs, and family dynamics. General approaches include implementing low and/or high tech AAC systems in conjunction with verbal communication in an attempt to influence any means of appropriate communication for the child to obtain their wants and needs. I include tactile cueing systems (PROMPT) as needed along with Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC) with varying types of practice and feedback schedules.

Parent Involvement:
Parents play a large role in the assessment, diagnosis, and therapy processes. Parents are informants throughout the assessment period. Parents are observers and participants throughout the therapy sessions. Parents are asked to reinforce therapy activities outside of sessions for maintenance and generalization of skills.

Community Involvement:
I make a consistent effort to stay current with research, so that I may share information with colleagues and parents. I am part of multiple online Apraxia communities and make efforts to direct parents to local professionals in their search for more specific information regarding their children. I also make attempts to provide general education within communities as the need arises.
