Overall Treatment Approach:
I use highly motivating items to target speech production targets at a high frequency throughout the session. I also incorporate consistent hand cues for placement of speech targets. I am intentional in fading cues and transitioning the child to successful and spontaneous production of words.

Percent of CAS cases: 30

Parent Involvement:
I like to show parents the hand cues and the importance of frequent practice throughout the day. I like to help the parents think through daily routines, requests, and highly motivating items they can use to practice speech targets. I also encourage parents to be responsive to communication attempts and reward approximations and efforts when a child is attempting to communicate. Empowering the parents the simplify words and reward word approximations and the child's attempts is important for the child to feel successful with verbal communication.

Community Involvement:
I have worked with children in a pediatric private practice for over 10 years and enjoy the identification and treatment of CAS. I have enjoyed attending courses that provide treatment techniques specific to children with CAS and hope to attend more similar courses in the future.
