Overall Treatment Approach:
In early intervention, the challenge is to maximize opportunities for practice of sound-movement targets, phonemes in isolation and various CV patterns in a natural setting and play-based activities. Parent coaching is an integral part of home-based therapy which allows the family to participate in daily practice and implementation of suggested strategies. As the child grows, we move to more structured direct therapy time working to hit our target of 5 correct productions in a row while decreasing prompts and cues. Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing is the primary cueing method.

Percent of CAS cases: 30

Parent Involvement:
In early-intervention, parents are actively involved in the therapy sessions. Sessions are conducted in the family's home with the parents observing and practicing therapy techniques with the child during the session. Coaching is ongoing and integrated into the sessions.

Community Involvement:
I work primarily with early intervention through the Delaware County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Current involvement in the Apraxia community involves working with families of young children and school-aged children diagnosed with CAS. I attend CAS continuing education courses online and at state conferences whenever possible.
