Overall Treatment Approach:
Each child is individual and needs their own tailored plan of care, especially when taking into account things such as age, attention, and behavior. I highly recommend to parents that the child receive therapy 3-4 times/week with one-on-one, high production volume sessions. I begin work from where the child is already, where they are most successful, and begin building functional vocabulary with them using CV, VC, then CVC structures. Many times I incorporate music or "sing-songy" rhythm into the therapy sessions to let the right hemisphere help us produce our syllables and establish prosody and inflection in our speech. Some children may start the session with table time drill work using cards (Kaufman or others) with the specific syllable structure he/she is learning. I use mirrors and/or hand gestures for visual cues, PROMPT for tactile cues, and auditory cues as well. Then the child and I may play a turn-taking game involving the syllable structure words from the cards, and end our session with pretend play/imaginative play incorporating the syllable structure that is being targeted.

I have an extensive camera system in each therapy room that is linked to a specific samsung tablet for that room. Parents bring their own earbuds, check out the Samsung tablet to their child's therapy room, and they observe the entire therapy session. Parents are then asked to come directly to the therapy room for a summary of the session and are encouraged to ask any questions.
