Do I have to register and pay to attend the conference?
Answer:
Yes. Conference registration is required in order to attend conference sessions and events.

Does the registration fee cover both a husband and wife to attend?
Answer:
No, the registration fee listed in the brochure is for one person.   One possibility for parents is to share one name tag. In other words, you can go to sessions that interest you and then pass off your nametag to your husband/wife so that he/she can attend the sessions that are of interest. You would not be able to attend together as an official name tag is required to enter conference session rooms. Also, the registration would only cover ONE person for breakfast and lunch, not both.

Will you give me a discount on the registration fee?
Answer:
The registration rate is already discounted $100 for parents and taking advantage of the Early Bird Rate should also be helpful.   We have been trying to acquire funding for the scholarships that we have been able to offer in the past. Due to the current economic climate, the foundation that has previously so generously provided monies for the scholarships has not been funded itself yet this year. Please keep an eye on our website for the most current information on scholarships for the Conference. If you know of a funding source for scholarships, please contact us!

Does my registration include travel and hotel costs?
Answer:  No. The conference registration includes your admission to the conference sessions, conference materials, an opening reception, and breakfast and lunch for two days. You must make and pay for your own hotel and travel arrangements.

Can I register for only one day?
Answer:  After July 1st  and only if the conference is not already sold out (which is could be), there is a possibility that one day registration will be accepted. However, if you are a professional you will be unable to receive ASHA CE credits unless you attend both days of the conference.  We cannot guarantee that there will be a one day registration available.

Can I register for just one session?
Answer:
No, we are unable to operate a conference successfully with the added complexity and documentation that would be required.

Why do I have to pay to attend the conference?
Answer:
Plain and simple, the process of planning and implementing  a national conference with hundreds of attendees and the top apraxia experts in the world costs money. CASANA is a nonprofit organization and in order to put on the conference, we must have funds to do it. Registration fees help pay for the costs associated with a conference of this scale. We have surveyed other similar conferences and our registration fees are relatively moderate compared with other large national nonprofit conferences and for the level of program being offered.

Can my children attend with me?
Answer:
No, the conference is designed for the adult learner. Children are welcome to attend the opening reception if they are at the event location and are supervised by a parent who is a conference registrant. Children are not permitted in the conference sessions. The only exception to this are nursing infants under one year of age. However, if an infant would begin to fuss or cry, it is expected that parent will take the infant out of the conference session until he/she is quiet again. If this circumstance ends up applying to you, please have consideration for other conference attendees and use good common sense. Parents of infants who do not follow this guideline will be asked to leave the conference session so as not to disrupt it for all others.

Are there other ways to discuss apraxia related topics with others if there is no session on a topic?
Answer:
On the Friday of the conference we will set up "topic tables" during lunch time. Each table will be marked with a sign indicating a specific topic that registrants might like to discuss. You can then sit at that table and discuss the topic with other who are also interested in that particular subject. There will also be tables with no subjects attached for those who would just like to relax a bit. If you want to suggest a topic table contact us.

Are you providing babysitting for the children of attendees?
Answer:
No, you must make plans for your child. We will attempt to identify local childcare providers. Check your conference brochure for more information.

Is CASANA providing my dinner?
Answer:
No. Dinners are not included in your registration fee.

Can I attend the Donor Reception if I want time to talk with the conference expert speakers?
Answer:
Only those who have donated $200 or more to CASANA in the past year or whose actions led to this level of support are eligible to attend the reception (for example, someone who started an Apraxia STAR page within the last year that raised over $200). If you would like to make a donation of this value, please click here to donate and then you will receive an invitation. We have created this very special opportunity to thank those who have given generously and thus are most responsible for assuring that the organization’s mission continues today and into the future for other parents and professionals beyond themselves.

Are there discounted hotel rates?
Yes.
See the website for a list of hotels. Please note that when you call you must ask for the Childhood Apraxia of Speech group rate.

Can I have my child evaluated at the conference?
Answer:
  No.

I can’t come but would you send me a tape of the conference afterward ?
Answer:
No. We do not have funding to cover the cost of equipment rental, videotaping, editing and packaging and the associated staff costs. Additionally, speakers do not uniformly agree to have presentations taped. If you are aware of grant funds or are able to donate sufficient funds for this goal, please contact Kathy Bauer, conference director at kathyb@apraxia-kids.org . If funds were available it is possible that some speakers may agree to be taped.

Can CASANA change the time of a session that I want to attend because there are two sessions I want to attend happening at the same time?
Answer:
No. The schedule has been set and cannot be changed to accommodate one or several people. We work hard to try and offer sessions twice and to have sessions of interest at all times during the conference.

Is there a cost for just the pre-printed handouts?  In other words, are these printouts distributed during the sessions at no extra cost?
Answer:
About two weeks prior to the Conference, if you are registered, you will be sent a website with log-in and password information. There you will be able to access all the handouts to all the sessions for no additional fee. You will be able to print them out or to download them to your computer.  When you register for the conference, you will also be given the opportunity to purchase a complete set of bound handouts for $25. We do this as a service for those who do not want to print all the handouts themselves.

I can't come to the conference but can I just get the handouts?
Answer:
No.  The conference handouts are for the paid registrants of the conference.

Can my family join me for lunch if I am a registrant?
Answer:
Not at this time.  The lunch is for paid registrants.  We are working with the venue to find ways that you can pay for additional lunches to cover the cost of family members that you may want to join you for lunch.
