First Annual CASANA Walk-a-thon for Children with Apraxia is a Huge Success!
Thanks to the generous support of walkers, donors, sponsors, and other supporters, the First Annual Walk-a-thon for Children with Apraxia of Speech, held on Saturday, October 18, 2008, was a huge success! Over 325 walkers joined in at the main walk-a-thon site located in North Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with over 100 others participating in satellite walk sites in Seattle, Washington and Chesapeake, Virginia. With everyone's efforts, over $32,000 was raised to support CASANA's programs that benefit children with apraxia and their families. Our programs offer support, information, research and education about childhood apraxia of speech and all funds raised will support our mission so that children with apraxia have the opportunity to reach their potential!
We cannot thank enough CASANA board member and Walk-a-thon Chairperson, Sue Freiburger. She did an amazing job with this event and is still excited about doing it again next year! The walk-a-thon was her son Sean's idea because he knows how hard it is for children with apraxia to find their voice. Addional thanks goes out to Paul Freiburger for organizing the Seattle walk and Tania Peace for her work organizing the Chesapeake walk.
