2009 Deposit, NY Walk for Children with Apraxia of Speech
Unlock Our Voices; Open Our Futures!
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2009 1:00 PM Check-in/2:00 PM Walk Chestnut Inn 498 Oquaga Lake Road Deposit, NY 13754
Our son Mason is a bright, happy 3 year old that was diagnosed with Childhood Apraxia of Speech on March 2, 2009. Our family has watched Mason struggle with trying to talk all of his little life. It is both frustrating and heartbreaking to watch him, knowing he knows exactly what he wants to say and not being able to say it.
This walk is important to our family for two reasons. The first reason is to raise awareness about Apraxia. When Mason was first diagnosed our friends and family would ask, "Apraxia, what's that?" In order to get the funding and research that is needed to find the cause and best treatment for Apraxia, people need to know what it is! That brings me to reason number two - to raise funds to further the research that finds a cause of Apraxia so the best treatment can be found, and hopefully one day a cure.
Register by September 25, 2009 to receive your Apraxia Walk T-shirt! Thank you and see you at the walk!
