2009 Childhood Apraxia Walk - Minneapolis/St. Paul Area
Unlock Our Voices; Open Up Our Futures!
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2009 12:00 Noon - 4:00 PM City Square Park Gazebo 101 East Main Street Waconia, MN 55387
When our kids were first diagnosed with Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) we had never even heard of the disorder. We very quickly began to research this and quickly found out that CAS is a motor speech disorder that causes children to have difficulty making sounds, syllables, and words. The brain knows what the child wants to say, but just can't do it. Our kids work extremely hard everyday to do something that most of us take for granted. Many of them attend speech therapy 3 - 4 times a week. They have come along way since their diagnosis, but they have a long road ahead of them.
Thanks to CASANA, Apraxia research and programs will continue to move forward. Please help us raise awareness! All proceeds from this walk-a-thon will benefit CASANA Apraxia programs and research. The walk is a family-friendly fun day at the park! Bring friends and family!! Enjoy the playground and the beautiful fall scenery! We hope to see you there! The more the merrier! If you register by September 25, 2009, you will receive a Walk for Apraxia t-shirt at the registration table on Walk Day. If you cannot walk with us in person, please consider sponsoring a walker or making a donation through our walk website. Thank you for helping this great cause.
