Joey was diagnosed with severe global apraxia at 18 months old. Little did we know just how severe his disability was. Joey received therapy both through early intervention and private therapy for years, with limited progress. As parents we had come to the realization Joey would never speak. At the age of 5 years 10 months we found a private therapist who made all the difference in Joey's life. When she started treating him Joey only had 3 words. After 3 months of treatment his expressive vocabulary went to 100 words and 6 months later he is starting to speak in sentences with the right shawdowing.

I hope our story gives families hope and knowledge to keep searching for therapies and therapist that can make all the difference in a child's abilities. The information on the apraxia-kids site is so valuable and it is the first place I tell parents of newly diagnosed apraxic child to look. It is so important to get the right treatment and support from the start and the CASNA site is wonderful for finding out how to do that. Without this site we would not be as knowledgable as we are today. Please help us support this group so they can continue to educate parents and professionals about apraxia.
