Seminar Overview:

This Apraxia 101 Parent Seminar is designed to provide an overview of Childhood Apraxia of Speech especially for parents. CASANA’s Executive Director and Founder Sharon Gretz is excited to present this information alongside Apraxia expert Nancy Kaufman, M.A., CCC-SLP, founder of the Kaufman Children’s Center for Speech, Language, Sensory-Motor, & Social Connections.

Some of the topics that will be discussed include:

  • Definitions, causes (etiology), and identification
  • Qualities of effective speech therapy programs
  • Parent participation & responsibilities for optimal outcomes
  • Co-occurring conditions
  • Prognosis and how children may be expected to do in the future
  • Tips for proactive parent advocacy
  • Questions and Answers

Registration is available only for parents of children with apraxia of speech. Professionals have many opportunities for educational events, but parents do not. Only register for this seminar if you are the parent of a child with apraxia of speech.

Each person who plans to attend must complete the registration process. While the seminar is FREE OF CHARGE, there is limited seating, so all must register in order to attend.

A HUGE THANK YOU to all of the participants, donors, and sponsors in the
Motor City Walk for Apraxia, whose generosity has made this free seminar possible, and especially to 2015 Walk Coordinator, Christina Dobbs and 2016 Walk Coordinator KC Collier and all of their amazing volunteer helpers!

Also, thank you to Nancy Kaufman and The Kaufman Children’s Center for donating space for this seminar!!
